Welcome to the
Giving Voice Dementia-Friendly Choral Library
A curated collection of purchasable music that has been adapted to be dementia-friendly, as guided by the “Dementia-Friendly Choral Guidelines” developed by the Giving Voice Initiative.

How It Works
Sharing music that has been arranged to be dementia-friendly has always been tricky because of the necessary copyright permissions and fees to arrange copyrighted music. That’s why we’re so thankful to have discovered and be utilizing the service platform, ArrangeMe offered by Hal Leonard for the Dementia Friendly Choral Library. Using a licensed platform makes sure the right permissions and royalties are taken care of, so we can share our music responsibly.
The Dementia Friendly Choral Guidlines
Giving Voice Initiative has been supporting and leading dementia-friendly choirs across the country for more than a decade. The Dementia-Friendly Choral Guidelines are grounded in extensive real-world experience, ongoing feedback from singers and facilitators, and evidence-based research from experts in the field. Through our work with the Giving Voice Choruses and Network Choirs nationwide, we have found these practices to be the most consistently effective and supportive for singers living with dementia. At the same time, we recognize that every community is unique. If you’ve discovered approaches that work particularly well for your singers, we would love to learn from you! We are deeply committed to ongoing learning and adaptation and value the shared wisdom of this community as we continue to grow together.
